Contact us Senior Functional QA Engineer (SDET)– Healthcare AI Senior Functional QA Engineer (SDET)– Healthcare AI Apply Now | Please email resume to careers@ellipsishealth.com Location: Remote, located in the US; Partial in-person, San Francisco Bay Area Type: Full-time Department: Engineering Reports to: Head of Engineering We are looking for a Senior Functional QA Engineer (SDET) with significant experience in Quality Engineering for commercial-grade, data products that leverage Machine Learning & Gen AI. This role involves collaborating with ML and Data teams to ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of our healthcare application, built using Databricks, DBT and PostgreSQL, Speech-to-Text, Large Language Models, and Text-to-Speech. The ideal candidate has a strong background in functional testing, automation, and Agile methodologies and will contribute to building the next generation of our app that will be used by millions of users all over the world. Responsibilities • Ability to understand SQL & Python for parsing business logic and writing test cases. • Design, develop, and execute functional test plans, test cases, and test scripts for ETL pipelines, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and completeness. • Collaborate with data engineers, developers, and product managers to understand ETL requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage. • Validate data transformations, data mappings, and data loads across various stages of the ETL process. • Identify, document, and track ETL defects, working closely with engineering teams to resolve data quality issues. • Implement and maintain automation frameworks for ETL testing to enhance test efficiency and coverage. • Perform data validation and reconciliation between source systems, staging, and target data warehouses. • Conduct root cause analysis for data discrepancies and contribute to quality metrics reporting. • Participate in Agile ceremonies, providing QA input during sprint planning and retrospectives. • Lead functional validation efforts and oversee test environment setup for ETL processes and data pipelines. • Work with partners and vendor teams to validate integrations with healthcare data platforms. • Perform manual validation for critical ETL processes, ensuring compliance with healthcare data standards (e.g., HIPAA, HL7, FHIR). • Handle production deployments, hot fixes, and rollouts to ensure faster responses to critical data issues and customer requests. • Collaborate with the Implementation/Onboarding Team to review and triage production data issues, identify root causes, and define action plans to improve test coverage. • Work with cross-functional teams to validate healthcare-specific data models, ensuring compliance with regulatory and business requirements. Qualifications • 5+ years of experience in Functional QA/SDET roles with expertise in ETL testing and data validation. • Strong knowledge of ETL testing methodologies, data quality assurance, and defect tracking. • Hands-on experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, or similar big data platforms. • Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries for data validation, reconciliation, and testing. • Experience with DAG-based job orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow or Databricks Workflows. • Strong knowledge of test design techniques, defect tracking, and QA methodologies. • Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright. • Proficiency in API testing using Postman, RestAssured, or similar tools. • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments. • Experience testing applications that incorporate Machine Learning models and Speech-to-Text/Text-to-Speech technologies. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. • Excellent communication and collaboration skills. • Experience in setting up test management templates, creating test plans, and establishing quality processes for ETL releases. • Basic understanding of LLMs and AI-enabled features for functional testing. • Experience collaborating with Product and Engineering teams to triage, prioritize bugs, and assess release risks.
