About The Job
Join HumRRO's engineering team to build AI-powered applications. As a junior to mid-level engineer, you'll work with engineering and with research scientists integrating LLMs into psychrometric based workflows-prompt engineering, batched flows, agent development, etc. This is hands-on development: APIs, frontend, backend, cloud infrastructure, and shipping features that matter.
What You'll Do:
• Build full-stack web apps consuming LLM APIs.
• Work effectively with team members to design and produce high quality code.
• Implement RAG pipelines, prompt optimization, and cost-efficient inference strategies.
• Own features end-to-end: frontend to backend to cloud deployment
• Collaborate with research teams to translate requirements into working systems.
• Ensure code and development practices adhere to security requirements.
• Troubleshoot issues and effectively communicate updates and resolution plans.
Basic Qualifications:
• US citizenship with ability to obtain clearance if needed
• BS Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 1+ years of experience in software development of web applications.
• Production experience: React, TypeScript, Node.js, SQL/NoSQL, REST APIs
• AWS or Azure cloud fundamentals (AWS preferred)
• Understanding of LLM fundamentals (prompting, context windows, fine-tuning concepts, RAG)
• Passion for improving software quality and the user experience. Along with building testable software that is modular, maintainable, secure, and reliable.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Hands-on with LLM frameworks (preferably Vercel AI SDK)
• Experience with Terraform
• Experience with prompt optimizationevaluation
• Familiarity with vector databases
• Model deployment experience (inference optimization, caching strategies)
• Research sector or psychology domain exposure
HumRRO is headquartered in Old Town Alexandria, VA. The position is at a HumRRO office in one of the following cities: Alexandria, VA; Louisville, KY; Monterey, CA; San Diego, CA; or Minneapolis, MN. We offer a hybrid work policy that allows for part-time telework.
The anticipated salary range for this role is $70,000 to $110,000. Specific salary offers are based on candidate qualifications and experience.
