We are looking for smart, passionate team players who can help us improve the state of healthcare by tackling some of the most complex data science and machine learning challenges in the industry. We’re currently seeking a Senior MLOps Engineer to join our Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) team.    Job Description  The MLOps team designs, develops, deploys, monitors, and assures the continuous operation of the athenahealth cloud-based platform supporting frontier and foundational generative models as well as customized models. We strive for operational excellence, results-oriented and creative problem-solving, and a passion for helping our team-mates succeed.    What you'll do:  • Be an integral part of a team responsible for a engineering, maintaining, and advancing our centralized AI platforms. • Ensure our cloud-based ML training and serving platforms are available and performant, and that we can proactively identify problems.  • Evaluate/integrate leading edge AI tools and technologies from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Microsoft, AWS, and others. • Build tools to improve speed, confidence, and availability of our platforms.  • Build security into every step of the software & infrastructure development life cycle.  • Collaborate across multiple technical functions to ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and customer satisfaction.    You're a good fit if you:  • Strive to solve manual & repetitive operations through automation.  • Enjoy learning new tools, languages, and frameworks.  • Enjoy a highly collaborative environment.  • Are organized and detail oriented.  • Have a strong customer focus.  • Have good communication skills and are calm under pressure.  • Have a high sense of ownership and a “can-do” attitude.  • Are willing to dig deep into infrastructure and code to solve problems.  • Are an enthusiastic self-starter with a commitment to learning.    What we're looking for:  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.  • 5+ years of combined experience in Software/Data Engineering, MLOps, DevOps, or SRE teams.  • Strong hands-on experience in Kubernetes designing, creating, deploying, and maintaining enterprise-class ML models and services.  • Hands-on experience with any of the following technologies:  Spark; Istio/service mesh architecture; cloud security; Terraform • Demonstrated experience programming in Python.  • Hands-on experience with developing microservices in a Public Cloud environment such as Amazon’s AWS Services, Azure, or GCP.  • Experience deploying and maintaining Linux-based, highly scalable, and fault-tolerant enterprise-class software platforms.  • Experience engineering, deploying, and hosting services in Azure AI Foundry or Amazon Bedrock • Familiarity with common monitoring, log aggregation and metrics gathering platforms such as Grafana, Prometheus, and CloudWatch.  • Experience integrating with and hosting services such as LiteLLM, LangSmith, Arize, Braintrust • Engineering experience with databases such as Snowflake, Postgres, MySQL, Redis, DynamoDB, etc.  • Familiarity with common configuration management & orchestration tools such as Jenkins, Puppet/Bottlerocket, and Chef.  • Experience in Data Science or working with Data Scientists and AI Engineers as stakeholders.  • Experience with model training pipelines using Kubeflow.  Expected Compensation $145,000 - $247,000 The base salary range shown reflects the full range for this role from minimum to maximum. At athenahealth, base pay depends on multiple factors, including job-related experience, relevant knowledge and skills, how your qualifications compare to others in similar roles, and geographical market rates. Base pay is only one part of our competitive Total Rewards package - depending on role eligibility, we offer both short and long-term incentives by way of an annual discretionary bonus plan, variable compensation plan, and equity plans.
