About the TeamThe Autonomy Operations organization is responsible for bringing Nuro’s technology safely from lab to road. The Autonomy Operations team is at the heart of Nuro’s mission, partnering across engineering, testing, and field operations to ensure that every deployment, process, and decision reflects Nuro’s commitment to safety. As the Senior Manager of the Fleet teamyou’ll lead the team responsible for bringing up and maintaining new vehicle platforms critical to Autonomy Development and commercial partnerships. About the RoleAs the Senior Manager of the Fleet team, you will lead vehicle platform operations, fleet readiness, and field support to ensure our vehicles are safe, reliable, and mission-ready. You will manage a multi-layered team of supervisors, technicians, and support staff while driving operational excellence and maintaining a high safety standard. In this role, you will partner cross-functionally with hardware, software, and operations teams to support deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. This position requires a strong people leader who can build effective teams, improve processes, and deliver consistent execution in a fast-paced environment. About the Work Lead fleet operations across managers and field teams, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient execution in support of company priorities and mission-critical objectives. Set the operating cadence for the team, establishing clear expectations, driving accountability, and developing leaders across a multi-layered team. Own fleet strategy, workforce planning, and resource allocation, aligning organizational capabilities, vehicle readiness, and execution with evolving business needs. Serve as the senior escalation point for fleet and depot operations, exercising strong judgment and driving cross-functional resolution on complex, high-impact issues. Partner cross-functionally with company leadership across Hardware, Software, Autonomy, Product, Supply Chain, and Operations to translate strategic priorities into scalable operational execution. Lead engagement with external partners and vendors, ensuring strong alignment, clear accountability, and high-quality execution against shared objectives. Drive performance against key operational metrics, including readiness, uptime, quality, cost, and service delivery, while leading initiatives that improve reliability and efficiency at scale. Design and strengthen systems and processes required to support growth, operational rigor, and consistent execution across sites. Foster a culture of safety, accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement, ensuring teams operate with discipline and a high standard of excellence. Oversee budget planning and operational spend, balancing near-term execution with long-term scalability and organizational effectiveness. Lead through ambiguity and change, providing steady leadership and ensuring continuity of execution as business priorities evolve. Provide technical and operational leadership, raising the bar on execution, decision-making, and cross-functional partnership through strong judgment, clarity, and example-setting leadership. About You Experienced leader of leaders: You have 7+ years of experience in fleet, operations, service, or other technical organizations, including leading managers or supervisors in fast-paced, high-accountability environments. Technically credible: You bring experience with vehicle systems, diagnostics, maintenance, and troubleshooting, and have the software fluency to lead teams working across hardware-software systems. Strategic and execution-oriented: You can translate business priorities into clear plans, team structure, and disciplined operational execution. Strong cross-functional operator: You build alignment and drive progress across engineering, product, and operations teams in complex, ambiguous environments. Data-driven problem solver: You use metrics, judgment, and process rigor to improve fleet performance, scalability, and operational efficiency. Experienced people leader: You set a high bar, develop leaders, and foster a culture of accountability, transparency, safety, and continuous improvement. Adaptable and hands-on when needed: You are comfortable working onsite, navigating changing priorities, and supporting operational needs in the field. Bonus Points You have experience in the Autonomous Vehicle industry and are deeply familiar with the technical details of AV systems You have familiarity and professional technical experience in machine learning. At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected base pay range is between $145,830 and $219,000 for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
