Software Engineer — Python & AI Integration Location: Columbia, Maryland Work arrangement: Remote — local candidates required; onsite attendance as needed Salary range: 139,000–180,000 Clearance: Secret About the opportunity Build secure AI capabilities for a data lake platform supporting a DoD/federal customer. This opportunity focuses on Python development, AI agents, Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, and enterprise integrations. You will help connect AI services with internal applications, databases, and external APIs while supporting security, scalability, and reliability. What you’ll do • Develop Python backend components for AI integrations and agent workflows. • Build MCP servers connecting AI capabilities with enterprise tools and data. • Integrate large language model APIs, including OpenAI and Anthropic. • Connect AI services with Java-based microservices, databases, and external APIs. • Implement enterprise AI security controls and guardrails. • Deploy containerized services using Docker and Kubernetes. • Develop automated tests and support CI/CD pipelines. Required qualifications • Ability to meet the role’s Secret clearance requirement. • Python backend development experience. • Experience with LLM API integration and MCP server development. • Knowledge of prompt engineering and AI agents. • Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture. • Docker, Kubernetes, and Linux command-line skills. • Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, and AI security controls. Preferred qualifications • Java and Spring familiarity. • Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, AutoGen, or similar frameworks. • Knowledge of vector databases and semantic caching. • AWS or Azure experience and familiarity with data lake architectures. • DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II certification may be required as directed by the customer.
