Position Summary
Sciton is growing rapidly and is seeking a highly motivated AI & Finance Automation Summer Intern to help transform and streamline core accounting and finance processes using modern AI tools and
automation technologies.
This role sits at the intersection of finance, data, and emerging AI capabilities, focusing on identifying
manual workflows and building scalable solutions that improve efficiency, accuracy, and insight
generation.
You will work closely with teams across Accounting, FP&A, and IT, gaining hands-on experience in how a company finance organization operates and evolves.
Work Schedule and Compensation:
• Hybrid: at least 3 days per week in the Palo Alto, CA office
• Internship duration: 10–12 weeks (May to August)
• Pay rate: $24–$28/hourly (this internship is classified as non-exempt, which means you’ll be eligible for overtime pay if you work more than 40 hours in a week)

What You’ll Do:
Process Identification & Analysis
• Map and document current manual accounting and finance workflows (e.g., reconciliations, journal entries, reporting)
• Identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and automation opportunities
• Quantify potential time savings and error reduction
AI & Automation Development
• Design and build AI-driven solutions to automate repetitive tasks, such as:
• Account reconciliations
• Data extraction from invoices/contracts
• Variance analysis and commentary generation
• Journal entry preparation support
• Leverage tools such as Python, SQL, APIs, automation platforms, and LLM-based tools (e.g., prompt engineering, workflow automation)
Data & Reporting Enhancements
• Develop dashboards or scripts to improve financial reporting workflows
• Automate recurring analyses
• Enhance data accessibility for stakeholders
Implementation & Testing
• Pilot solutions with real finance teams
• Validate outputs for accuracy, auditability, and SOX compliance considerations
• Document processes and create user guides
Essential Requirements:
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Accounting, Business, and/or Finance
• Experience in applied AI, working with Google Gemini, ChatGPT, and/or Claude
• Ability to understand accounting processes and creatively leverage AI to improve departmental efficiency and accuracy
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with demonstrated business acumen
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Experience in a dynamic environment requiring adaptability, creativity, and flexibility
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
