About the company
A seed-stage AI startup, now raising its Series A, that builds voice, text, and phone agents for large home services companies in HVAC, roofing, plumbing, and remodeling.
Its agents answer inbound calls and messages, book jobs, and follow up on leads for operators running nine-figure businesses, and billions of dollars in customer revenue already flow through the platform.
The team is under 20 people, backed by a venture fund and a group of well-known operators, and works together in person in New York. The role You'll be the engineer customers rely on.
You'll embed with enterprise home services operators, build and deploy the agents they run their front office on, and own the relationship from implementation through expansion.
The role leans more customer-facing than a typical engineering seat, but you'll still write and ship production code every week, then bring what you learn from customer leadership back to product and engineering.
The team is hiring three engineers at once, so you'll be ramping alongside a new cohort rather than filling a single seat. You'll work directly with the founders and help shape where the platform goes. What you'll do
• Build and deploy voice, text, and phone agents that handle real customer calls, bookings, and follow-ups for large service businesses
• Own implementation and onboarding for your accounts end to end, as their main technical point of contact
• Integrate agents with customers' CRM and field service systems through REST APIs, and write the Python and SQL that keeps data flowing
• Ship frontend and API work in React, TypeScript, and Node.js when a customer rollout needs it
• Turn what you hear in the field into concrete product requests, working with product, design, and engineering
• Drive account growth by proving revenue impact and finding the next problem to solve
What you must bring
• 1+ years as a forward deployed engineer or customer-facing software engineer
• Production code you've shipped in a customer-facing role, tied to real deployments and outcomes rather than demos
• Strong Python and SQL, plus comfort working with REST APIs
• Hands-on frontend and full-stack experience with React, TypeScript, and Node.js
• Real customer-facing experience: you've embedded with clients and owned implementations, and you can present confidently to C-level executives
• Experience at a startup or small company where you owned work with little structure
• A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related STEM field
• Comfort with long, intense days in a fast-moving early team
Nice to have
• Experience building AI agents (voice, text, or similar) and the tooling around them
• Founder or founding engineer experience building something 0-to-1
• Genuine interest in bringing AI to home services, construction, or remodeling
Compensation & logistics
• $120K to $200K base salary plus competitive equity
• Benefits include fully covered medical, 401(k) matching, unlimited PTO, lunch and dinner in the office, a gym stipend, travel perks, relocation assistance, and mentorship from the company's advisors
• On-site five days a week in New York, NY. Relocation support is available
• Expect long days (often 10 to 12 hours) during a high-growth stretch
• 3 openings
• Not open to visa sponsorship. Candidates must already be authorized to work in the US (US citizens and green card holders)
This isn't the right fit if
• You want a pure engineering role with little customer contact
• Your background is mostly customer success, sales engineering, or deployment strategy without hands-on production code
• Your experience is only at large tech companies or big consulting firms, with no startup work
• Your recent history is several stints of a year or so, or you're less than a year into your current role
• You're looking for a predictable 9 to 5 schedule or a fixed playbook to follow
