Our challenge
We are seeking an experienced and innovative Principal Gen AI Engineer (Full Stack) to lead the development and deployment of cutting-edge generative AI solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of AI/ML techniques, full-stack development skills, and the ability to drive the technical vision of our AI initiatives.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $105k - $115/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
• Lead the design, development, and implementation of generative AI models and applications across the full technology stack.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, data scientists, and software engineers to translate business needs into scalable AI solutions.
• Develop and optimize APIs, backend services, and front-end interfaces to deliver seamless user experiences.
• Engineer data pipelines and manage data processing flows to support AI model training and inference.
• Ensure the robustness, security, and scalability of AI-driven applications.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in generative AI, machine learning, and full-stack development, and incorporate best practices.
• Mentor and guide the engineering team in technical excellence and innovation.
• Contribute to the development of technical standards and best practices for AI implementation.
Requirements:
• Proven experience (typically 8+ years) in full-stack software development and AI/ML, with a focus on generative models.
• Strong programming skills in Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, and frameworks such as React, Node.js, or similar.
• Deep understanding of AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar.
• Experience with large language models (LLMs), GANs, VAEs, or other generative architectures.
• Demonstrated ability to design scalable backend architectures and RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and deploying AI models in production.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a strategic mindset.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
Preferred, but not required:
• Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Computer Science, AI, or related fields.
• Experience with model fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and model interpretability.
• Contributions to open-source AI projects or publications in relevant forums.
