Full description
We make personal AI robots - general-purpose physical machines that anyone can teach with code, language and demonstrations.
We believe building open platforms like the first PCs this is the only way to bring the robotics future that we all want, where everyone can participate in the robotics revolution.
About the role
We are looking for a generalist mechatronics engineer who has built and shipped hardware and feels confident working on a consumer product.
On any given day you might lay out a PCB, design a mechanical part, and write firmware. You will work across electronics, mechanics, and software, bringing designs through prototyping, testing, and production.
What we look for
- PCB design, high-speed digital systems, and power electronics.
- CAD and rapid prototyping.
- Embedded C and microcontrollers.
- Coding and debugging in C or Python.
Experience with CNC machining, sheet metal, injection molding, RF or signal integrity, BOMs, supply chains, and FPGAs is a plus. You do not need to meet every requirement; we value fast learners with strong evidence of building.
You enjoy hard problems, building for the real world, collaborating closely with a small team, and tackling new challenges every week.
You will design and build the physical systems that make our robots work and help shape the product around customers' needs. Share examples of hardware you have built and explain your personal contribution.
This is a full-time role, on-site in Palo Alto, California. We sponsor visas.
Salary: $150,000-$180,000 per year.
About Innate
Robots have a problem no one is tackling yet: They don't think in real-time well. They are starting to develop good motor skills with VLAs, but it takes more to make a truly helpful robot.
We develop technology to make robots that understand immediately what is happening in front of them and can be taught how to physically act on the world.
Such truly general-purpose robots will be usable in many sectors where autonomous physical AI agents are support, such as elder care, chores, security... We start in the home, with a safe and cute platform that hobbyists can program and prompt the way they want.
Compensation: $150K - $180K
Experience: Any (new grads ok)
