We are looking for passionate engineers and researchers who want to contribute in this exciting fast-moving field. This role focuses on developing physical AI technology, especially for manufacturing. Major Responsibilities • Develop effective techniques and infrastructure, from the initial idea to the running prototype and product • Write code, use the latest machine learning tools, run experiments, and generally develop techniques and processes to enable intelligent abilities on industrial applications • Partner with teams across the company to implement your ideas into their products • Remain connected to the broader research community by partnering with internal and external collaborators and participating in relevant conferences • Work on research and development to address the company’s key challenges • Present findings in an accessible way to teams across the company and external science community • Visualize and explain the work through presentations and notebooks • Work with other teams including business division to accelerate AI application in company-wide business processes • Participate in publication, patent, and conference activities alongside senior research staff • Write, test and maintain production-quality code • Works under the guidance of senior researchers to design, evaluate, and refine machine-learning models. • Contributes technical expertise to ongoing research initiatives and supports the transition of research outcomes into prototypes and production environments. • Design, experiment and evaluate models • Research, design and implement novel, highly scalable AI algorithms with focus on various kinds of data (e.g., image thermal depth sensor, Lidar, acoustic, graphs, tables, etc.) • Strategy development for the field of AI with focus on our lab’s applications, support in strategic decision making regarding various science problems • Support the development of research proposals and assist senior researchers in preparing technical content. • Participate in collaborative research activities with interdisciplinary research teams. • Understand complex research papers and write algorithms from scratch • Architect and implement software libraries to allow our research to improve and scale • Work under the guidance of senior researchers to implement and evaluate algorithms throughout the research cycle • Provide high quality code and programming knowledge to a research group Qualifications What You'll Bring: Education & Experience • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, Data Science, Applied Math or related discipline • AI and robotics research experience in academia or industry • Familiarity with deep learning libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.) • Demonstrated research experience through academic projects, publications, patents, or industry innovation activities • Good oral and written communication and teamwork skills • Worked with general ML libraries and toolkits • Experience working in multidisciplinary scientific collaboration • Experience with accelerators (GPU) and high-performance computing systems • Excellent programming skills in Python, C++, Tensorflow, PyTorch or similar languages • Internships/work experience with machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning • Background in machine learning techniques with large amounts of noisy or partially missing data, curiosity in applying it to industrial applications • Relevant research experience (publications at NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR or similar are preferred) • Experience with cloud environments and multi-machine setups • Proven experience, either in industry or a research lab, working on complex ML problems and engineering workflows • Proven knowledge of machine learning and/or statistics e.g., Neural Nets, Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning etc. • Strong knowledge of algorithm design - with a proven ability to write ML algorithms from scratch • A passion for AI Benefits & Perks - What's In It For You Panasonic prioritizes total well-being and offers comprehensive benefits options to support physical, emotional, financial, social, and environmental health: • Health Benefits – Offering medical, dental, vision, prescription plans, plus Health Savings Account and Flexible Spending Account options. • Voluntary Benefits – Life, accident, critical illness, disability, legal, identity theft, and pet insurance. • Panasonic Retirement Savings & Investment Plan (PRSIP) – 401(k) plan with company matching contributions and immediate vesting. • Paid Time-Off Benefits – Vacation, holidays, personal days, sick leave, volunteer, and parental & caregiver leave. • Educational Assistance – Tuition reimbursement for job-related courses after six months of service. • Health Management and Wellbeing Programs –Lifestyle Spending Account, EAP, virtual health management, chronic condition, neurodiversity, tobacco cessation, substance abuse support, and life stage and fertility resources. The wage range of $130,000 - $145,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. Actual compensation varies depending on the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
