As we bid to support the USAF, Metrics LLC is looking an AI/ML Engineer to serve as the on-site AI Integrator for a U.S. Air Force Reserve base in western Massachusetts. You'll be the lead — and sole — AI practitioner supporting Base Civil Engineering operations. This is not corporate AI. You won't be optimizing ad clicks or building chatbots. You'll build AI systems that help the military manage energy, analyze contracts, and predict snowfall operations. Your work will be used by real people to make real decisions on a real military installation. Three projects. Full ownership. Immediate impact. 1. Contract Analysis AI — Build an NLP model that analyzes historical contract packages, identifies patterns, flags discrepancies, and auto-redacts sensitive content 2. Energy Management — Deploy an AI system that integrates with building sensors and smart meters to optimize energy consumption across the base 3. Snowfall Recovery Platform — Take an existing Beta platform to full operational capability with weather prediction, equipment tracking, and resource allocation What You'll Do - Own the full ML lifecycle: data prep, model development, training, testing, deployment, monitoring - Clean and wrangle messy government data from multiple formats and systems - Build dashboards and tools that non-technical Air Force personnel can actually use - Write documentation, deliver monthly training sessions, and brief military leadership - Maintain and improve deployed systems over time What We're Looking For Must Have: - 3+ years hands-on AI/ML development (not just coursework — real deployments) - Strong Python skills and experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn - Data wrangling and ETL experience with messy, real-world data - Comfortable working independently with minimal oversight - U.S. Citizen (required for base access and background investigation) - Willing to work on-site 5 days/week at Westover ARB, Chicopee, MA Nice to Have: - Prior DoD or federal government experience - NLP / text processing experience - Time series analysis and predictive modeling - Docker, Kubernetes, DevSecOps familiarity - Military service (any branch) - Already living in western MA / CT / VT Company DescriptionProviding quality government consulting in today's resource constrained environment, Metrics LLC balances proven best practices with innovative approaches.
