About this opportunity

This project would focus on developing a lightweight, practical framework for governing the use of AI tools within the IV&V Program. The goal is not to write a comprehensive policy, but to help translate existing agency-level guidance into something that makes sense for day-to-day operations in a mission assurance context. The intern would explore questions like: What types of tasks could AI reasonably support? What data should never be exposed? And where should human oversight always be required? The desired outcome is a clear, easy-to-understand set of guiding principles and decision aids that help leaders and engineers make informed choices about AI use. This framework should enable thoughtful experimentation while reinforcing IV&V’s commitment to safety, accountability, and disciplined engineering—setting the stage for future AI pilots without creating confusion or unnecessary risk.
