About Anthropic Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.About the role We’re looking for a Head of GTM Narrative to own the strategic storytelling that defines how we communicate Claude’s capabilities, Anthropic’s mission, and the transformative potential of safe AI to the businesses and leaders shaping how this technology gets adopted. This is not a traditional marketing role. You’ll be the voice behind Anthropic’s go-to-market strategy, shaping the ideas, arguments, and stories that resonate with technical leaders, executives, and practitioners who are deciding how AI fits into their organizations. You’ll craft narratives that are substantive, credible, and rooted in a genuine understanding of what our customers are trying to accomplish. The best candidate for this role thinks like a journalist or storyteller who also understands what moves a business conversation forward. You’ll work at the intersection of our commercial, product, research and communications teams—translating Anthropic’s capabilities and vision into language that earns trust and sparks conviction. You will set the standard for how we show up in market conversations, from the themes we champion in long-form content to the arguments our teams bring to high-stakes customer dialogues. This role requires someone who can hold their own in a room with senior buyers and who writes with the kind of clarity and authority that makes complex ideas feel inevitable. Responsibilities Define the overarching narrative framework for Anthropic’s go-to-market efforts—the core themes, arguments, and proof points that shape how we engage with the market Develop high-impact written content that advances Anthropic’s commercial story, including thought leadership, market perspectives, strategic briefs, and customer-facing communications Collaborate with customers to develop and tell their AI transformation stories in ways that are authentic, compelling, and demonstrate real-world impact Partner closely with sales, solutions, and customer teams to understand what resonates with buyers and feed those insights back into narrative strategy Collaborate with product and research teams to translate technical capabilities and safety features into business-relevant stories that articulate real-world value Shape the editorial direction of key market moments—launches, industry events, major announcements, and partnership milestones—ensuring Anthropic’s voice is distinctive, substantive, and credible Work cross-functionally with communications, brand, and content teams to ensure narrative consistency across channels and audiences, establishing editorial standards that raise the quality bar across the organization Build and refine a library of strategic narratives, talking points, and conversation guides that help commercial teams speak authentically and persuasively about Anthropic’s products Rally cross-functional teams around shared narrative frameworks through storytelling excellence, strategic influence, and collaborative leadership You may be a good fit if you Have 10+ years of experience in communications, editorial, or content strategy roles at a technology company, with a track record of shaping how a company talks about its products and mission to commercial audiences Are an exceptional writer and editor who can craft compelling, authoritative narratives that engage senior business leaders and technical decision-makers Know how to find the story, sharpen the argument, and say something that actually matters in a crowded market Can move fluently between strategic thinking and hands-on writing, and are comfortable producing polished work yourself rather than only directing others Have experience working closely with commercial or sales teams and understand how narrative translates into real customer conversations and business outcomes Are skilled at translating complex, technical subject matter into language that is clear, credible, and genuinely useful to a business audience Have strong collaborative skills with experience rallying cross-functional teams around shared narratives without formal reporting authority Thrive in fast-moving, ambiguous environments and can build narrative strategy from the ground up Are results-oriented, with a bias towards flexibility and impact Care about ensuring that transformative AI systems are developed safely Strong candidates may also have Background in journalism, editorial leadership, content marketing or long-form business writing, particularly covering technology Experience in AI/ML, enterprise software, or other cutting-edge technology markets Experience at a company navigating a defining market moment—building a new category, entering a highly competitive space, or communicating around a deeply technical product Background working with highly regulated industries where trust, safety, and compliance messaging is critical Understanding of AI safety principles and the ability to communicate complex technical safeguards in business terms Experience building narrative or editorial functions from scratch within a high-growth organization Experience developing narratives for developer audiences as well as business decision-makers Track record of communications or content work that demonstrably influenced market perception or commercial outcomes The annual compensation range for this role is listed below. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.Annual Salary:$320,000—$400,000 USDLogistics Education requirements: We require at least a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices. Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this. We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team.Your safety matters to us. How we're different We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills. The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences. Come work with us! Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.
