About the Role
We’re looking for an independent AI builder who will be embedded in a real business and work with leadership. This person should be sharp and analytical who will help identify, evaluate, and integrate AI tools into our merchandising processes. This hands-on role will support buyers and the merchandising team to turn AI insights into actionable strategies. Ideal for a rising college senior or recent graduate with a strong academic record and excellent Excel/analytical skills.
This is not a traditional internship.
• You will have a high degree of ownership and autonomy from day one
• There is minimal formal training - you will be expected to explore, test, and figure things out independently
• You will work directly with senior leadership, including exposure to executive-level decision making
• You will be building and shaping processes that do not yet exist
This role is best suited for someone who is:
• Extremely self-directed and comfortable with ambiguity
• Excited to experiment, fail, and iterate quickly
• Motivated by building something from scratch rather than following a defined playbook
Key Responsibilities:
• Research and evaluate AI tools and use cases relevant to merchandising (assortment, pricing, forecasting, vendor/buyer insights)
• Pilot and document AI workflows; test tool outputs and measure performance against business metrics
• Integrate AI recommendations into Excel models, dashboards, and merchandising processes
• Collaborate with buyers and merchandising team to translate AI insights into buying and assortment actions
• Produce concise reports, dashboards, and presentations for stakeholders
• Support AI onboarding and training for internal users
What We’re Looking For:
• Top college student (rising senior) or recent graduate with an exceptional resume
• Strong conceptual understanding of AI application and familiarity with AI terminology/use-case evaluation
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, advanced formulas; Power Query or VBA a plus) and strong analytical/problem-solving ability
• Ability to translate data and AI insights into clear business recommendations
• Experience with ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot or other AI tools
• Excellent written and verbal communication; highly organized and self-directed
What You’ll Gain:
• Practical experience applying AI to business through retail merchandising and assortment strategy
• Exposure to pricing, demand forecasting, and digital merchandising workflows
• Hands-on Excel modeling and dashboarding experience
• Opportunity to build and own real AI-driven processes from the ground up
• A portfolio of real-world AI applications in a retail business
